Catholic Schools Week Monday – Priest/Religious Day - The dress code for the students on this day is: Nice dress-up clothes for Mass. On Monday, the Club World Aid holds a benefit concert at 7:00 pm in the LPAC. Tickets can be bought at the door. Prices are $6 for adults/$5 for kids or $20 per family. The concert will run from 7:00 – 8:45 with a 15-minute intermission. The proceeds will go to “School for Sam.” Tuesday – Alumni Day - The Alumni are invited to the 7:30 am Mass, which will be said for their intentions. Coffee and coffee cake will be served in the Commons after Mass. There will be a slide show in the Commons during lunch showing pictures and information regarding Pius Alumni. Normal schedule. Dress code for the students on this day is: Pajama Day (please encourage the kids to wear appropriate clothes to school so the students will be allowed to do this again next year. Girls are not to wear tight yoga pants or short pajama shorts). Students have the option of wearing jeans and a Pius T-shirt instead of pajamas. Wednesday – Parents/Guardians Day – Parents/Guardians are invited to the 7:30 am Mass, which will be said for their intentions. Coffee and coffee cake will be served in the Commons after Mass. Dress code for the students on this day is: MonoColor Day (wearing the same color with every article of clothing/shoes you have on). Students have the option of wearing jeans and a Pius T-shirt instead of pajamas. Thursday – Faculty/Staff Day - This day honors the Faculty/Staff and the staff are allowed to dress down in jeans on this day. Lunch is provided for the faculty/staff. Students are to wear regular uniforms, but this is “Accessory Day” so the students are encouraged to “accessorize” their uniforms and hats are allowed on this day. If a student is wearing a huge hat, you can ask him/her to take it off during class time so the students sitting in the back are able to see the board. Students cannot wear jeans on this day - uniform only. Friday – Student Day - Student Council is organizing a pep rally and part of the pep rally is a traditional flag football game. This is played between the Seniors and Volunteer Faculty. Dress code for the students and faculty/staff on this day is Xtreme Spirit Day. If you aren’t feeling Xtreme that day, you can wear a Pius shirt and jeans.
Landscaping Club Members - if you signed up to work New Student Orientation on Monday, February 6...report to the gym at 6:00 p.m. to help setup.
STEM Club The next STEM Club meeting will be Monday, February 6th after school in Room 202.
Landscaping Club Will meet Tuesday, February 7th to continue to get door ornaments ready to sell at conferences.

Cornhusker Boys State Applications are now available in the guidance office for Cornhusker Boys State. Junior boys are eligible to apply to attend. The dates of Boys State are June 3-9, 2012, and it will be held on the city campus of the University of Nebraska – Lincoln. The deadline to apply for Boys State is February 7, 2012. Completed application forms must be returned to guidance office. For any additional information, please contact the guidance office.
Schoenstatt Valentine Dinner For Couples - Sunday, February 12 The Schoenstatt Girls’ Youth will be hosting a Valentine Dinner for Couples on Sunday, February 12, at the Cor Mariae Schoenstatt Shrine (340 Hwy 103, Crete, NE). The evening begins at 5:30 p.m. with Holy Mass in the shrine including the renewal of marriage vows, a banquet meal, door prizes, live entertainment, and more! Space is limited, so don’t wait - Sign up now! The cost per couple is $40. Please RSVP by Tuesday, February 7, to (402) 826-3346. Proceeds of the event will help fund the activities of the Schoenstatt Girls’ Youth.
Art Club T-shirts and Sweatshirts Sale EXTENDED to February 8th! Check out the ultra cool art club design and order your t-shirt (short or long sleeved) or crew sweat shirt by February 8th. Order forms are available in the front office and room 152. You don't have to be a member of art club to be stylin' in this royal blue swagg.
Carnations for Valentines Day Carnations will be on sale Wednesday, February 8th and Thursday, February 9th during all lunch periods. Cost is just $1.00...these will be delivered to your friend, teacher, or special person on Tuesday, February 14 during period 8. We have only a limited number of carnations. We have sold out before B lunch in the two previous years, so get yours early.

Lit Club Lit Club will meet Feb. 18th at Meadowlark Coffee house 1624 South St. We will be discussing Sense and Sensability by Jane Austin as well as Sense and Sensibility and Seamonsters by Ben Winters.
Driver's Education at Pius X All – Metro Driver’s Education classes will begin Thursday, March 1, 2012 and end Friday, March 30. Class will be held from 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 a.m. in room 100 Monday – Friday. You must have a learner’s permit and have at least 12 hours of driving experience. Driving time will be arranged through the student’s study hall or after school. Cost is $275 Road Ready Driver’s Education classes will begin Monday, April 16, 2012 and end Monday, April 30. Class will be held from 3:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. in room 108 Monday – Friday. Driving time will be after school. Cost is $298 Forms for both options are available in the main office.
American Legion/Nebr. State Patrol Junior Law Cadet Program Application forms for the American Legion/Nebr. State Patrol Junior Law Cadet Program are now available. Juniors interested in learning more about the various aspects of law enforcement are eligibile to apply to attend. There is no cost for the program and the sessions will be held at the Nebr. State Patrol Training Academy in Grand Island. The young women's session is June 11-15, 2012 and the young men's session will be June 18-22, 2012. The application form is available online at http://www.nebraskalegion.net Completed applications should be e-mailed to the high school principal for their endorsement and then mailed to the address at the top of the application. For more information, please stop in the guidance office.
Law Day Essay Contest 2012 The Nebr. State Bar Foundation announces its Annual Law Day Essay Contest. The theme for Law Day 2012 is "Democracy and the Duty to Vote". Students in grades 9-12 are invited to write an original essay of at least 300 words, but not more tht 500 words. Entries should be submitted to the guidance office by March 23 and they will be forwarded to the Nebr. State Bar Foundation. If interested in entering this contest, please stop in the guidance office to pick up further application instructions.
UNL College of Architecture career Exploration Workshop The UNL College of Architecture will be conducting a week-long career exploration workshop in architecture, landscape architecture, and interior design. The workshop is a residential program and will be held June 10-16, 2012, on the UNL campus. Students who have completed two or more years of high school and are interested in exploring careers in these fields are encouraged to apply. The cost of the program is $585 and includes studio supplies, program fees, meals, and lodging. Space is reserved for 36 students to attend. Deadline to apply is April 6, 2012.
